We are nearly at the end of September so time for another member of the month. This month we hear from one of our most prolific runners, who you may have yet to meet,
read on to find out more about Janet's phenomenal achievement. Well done Janet from all at FRC!
Who are you?
My name is Janet, I am 45 years old and married to David. I have a lovely dog named Pip. I have lived in Faversham for the last 6 years. When I am not running,
I enjoy reading, going to the theatre and walking Pip.
What's in your kit bag?
Well I always have my sunglasses, gloves, my id bracelet, sun cream and a hat. I run in Asics Gel Nimbus trainers and I have a Garmin Forerunner 235 which I never run without.
What's been your greatest achievement?
I have recently completed a 10 in 10 challenge, I ran a half marathon everyday for 10 consecutive days. I never though I would be able to do it. I was told the hardest part was getting to the start line each day, and they were right.
Once I had gotten myself out of bed and driven down to Gravesend and started talking to the other runners, I was fine. I just took my time each day.
Give us your top tip
Eat simple foods the day before or the morning of a long run/race, stick with foods that your body is used to. I was staying in a hotel and had different milk the morning before a half marathon and it was not nice running with a bloated stomach.
What would you say now to the pre-Faversham Running Club you?
I have not run much with the club, but I have met a few of you. I have to say I was worried joining a proper running club. I am not a fast runner and I am not competitive; I just want to get around and claim my medal. But by taking the step and getting involved I feel like I am part of a team.
I would encourage anyone thinking about joining a club to do it, you won’t regret it.
