My name is Marika and I joined Faversham Running Club right back at the beginning when I saw Graham at the Faversham expo.
I am 49 years old and married to Paul who has also just joined the club for his first season. I have two children Jacob (19) and Ben (14). Ben too loves running and is very sporty.
I work for Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust and I love my job.
In my spare time, apart from running, I love a good book and socialising with my friends. I love the theatre and taking the family to the latest musical that's on!
What's in your kit bag?
The truth is I don't really have one.
I travel light when running and only really take with me what I need.
I do, however, have a drawer stuffed with running accessories and a wardrobe shelf full of running t-shirts from races and other such things!
When I run its with my old Garmin that I've had since 2012 bought before my first London marathon.
But these days times and goals are irrelevant to me and I run gadget free.
I run in whatever trainers I choose at the time but I'm currently in Adidas. And they are fab!
What's been your greatest achievement?
I've been lucky to have achieved much in my running time. My two favourite achievements are the Brighton marathon in 2016, where I ran with an
over active thyroid and helped a fellow runner from about twenty five miles to the end. We are still in touch now and that's just fabulous.
I was also lucky enough to be able to do the Brighton 10K in 2017 even though I was going through chemotherapy at the time. I ran with two
club friends and it was fabulous!
Give us your top tip
Always remember why you are running and accept that sometimes your run may not be what you want it to be. There is always another day.
What would you say now to the pre-Faversham Running Club you?
I would say I never thought I would be so lucky as to meet such amazing people and make such good friends, just out of running!
