Conor Dobbs

About me

My name is Conor, I am 24 years old, I’m originally from Luton in Bedfordshire but moved to Canterbury in 2014 to go to University. I graduated university with a Masters degree in European Politics, and I currently work for Tom Tugendhat MP. Other than running my hobbies mainly consist of sport! I’m a huge fan of all sports but mainly football, cricket, and baseball. I’m a huge Luton Town fan, and support Worcestershire when it comes to cricket, as well as the Boston Red Sox for baseball.

Never run on an empty stomach!

What’s in your kit bag?

So my kit bag isn’t the best! I am still in the process of building up a bit of a kit bag but I currently have a very old pair of Nike Shield Zoom Winflo 4’s (who even comes up with these names!). The watch I currently use is an iWatch series 5. No matter what the weather I will always wear my blue under armour thermal. I’ve had for years and years so I guess it’s turned into a funny superstition.

What’s been your greatest achievement so far?

My greatest achievement so far is probably getting out and running in the first place. I was never a fan of running (having played in goal for my football teams) and never really saw myself as a runner. However after Katie started it this time last year I thought why not! So last July I started, and very quickly caught the bug!

My top tip

Never run on an empty stomach! I learnt this the hard way about 2 months ago when I barely had any energy after about 2km’s of a Wednesday run! This culminated in me thinking about garlic bread for the remaining 3km’s.

What would you say now to the pre-Faversham Running Club you?

I would probably tell the ‘pre-Faversham Running Club me’ that running really is not that bad! Once you get into a rhythm and a routine it’s really good fun!
