Elizabeth (Lil) Diamond

About me

I’m Elizabeth but everyone knows me as Lil and I’m 33. I’m married to one of the Strava segment hunting twins Dan and we have been together for 16 years and married for nearly 10. I’m from Whitstable and have spent time studying and living in London. We’ve got two children who are 7 and 4 and you will often see them cheering me on at various events in the FRC hats!

For those that don’t know, I’m a dietitian in the NHS and look after people who are fed with feeding tubes at home. It certainly keeps me busy (especially at the moment) but I’m also about to embark on a masters to become a Sports Dietitian so no doubt I’ll be looking for volunteers in the club who may want advice while I study!

I love cooking, reading and eating out and wine. I really love wine!

If you try and be mindful of how you fuel your body, I promise, with training, you will be amazed at what your body can achieve!

What’s in your kit bag?

I wear Brook Adrenalines and have terrible overpronation, these have been the best for me so far having tried ASICS in the past.

My watch is a Garmin Vivoactive 4s which I love as it looks nice enough to wear all the time, not just when I’m running. It has so many features that I haven’t used though!

I haven’t got any lucky pants! I re-wear kit until it is on it’s last legs and only get new stuff if I have to. My favourite running t-shirt is 12 years old and growing strong. My favourite trousers were Asics compression which I had to retire when they got too many holes in recently, and I can’t find any that match them! I do love a race t-shirt and at a push, my best one is from Brighton 2017 which says ‘a hero is someone who can go a minute longer.

What’s been your greatest achievement so far?

I am not a naturally sporty or fit person but have always exercised in the past because I know I have to. I have run on and off for 15 years or so, (more off than on).  My greatest achievement has to be my first Marathon, Brighton in 2017 which I wanted to do as a personal challenge and to raise money for Breast cancer for my mum. It was such a hot day and I trained for it alone and ran it alone in just over 5 hours. It gave me some confidence and self-belief in myself that I hadn’t had before and was amazed that someone ‘like me’ could do it!

My top tip

It’s probably finding someone to run with regularly, until COVID I enjoyed running with Gemma in our early Tuesdays mornings and also with Keira. They both help push me! Also, the dietitian in me is always going to say fuel yourself properly for runs and take on water. I hate running with a water bottle and I’ve certainly been caught out on a hot summer club run with not enough water!

What would you say now to the pre-Faversham Running Club you?

That I shouldn’t have been scared to go along to the Rec in 2015 when the club was starting up. I was so close to coming and chickened out, thinking I wasn’t good enough!
